HOW TO SPEND P100.00 IN 3 HOURS?

This morning I woke up feeling I needed to fulfill something different than the usual Saturday. So, I got up at around 6:45 am and went out for a 45-min run/walk/run to warm-up my day. Afterwards, I went to a local gym and paid a measly P30.00 as an entrance fee. I spent about an hour training my shoulders, chest and abs. To keep me hydrated during the work-out, I bought Cobra energy drink for P19.00. After the work-out, I walked myself again to a nearby barber shop and had my barber’s cut for about 30-min. I paid Manong Barbero P30 and gave him a tip for P20.00. I thought I look better with a shorter hair. I had P1.00 left, so I went back home to prepare myself for a breakfast before another half-day work. I came home feeling that I have accomplished something personally unusual. So I went up and saw my 5-yr old niece having breakfast and preparing herself for a Saturday class. I thought of giving her P1.00 for no apparent reason at all. Now, three hours later, nothing is left from my P100.00 bill…

I just had an herb omelette at Seattle’s Best-Greenbelt about an hour ago. I think I just spent another P245.00 in less than an hour. Whew!

JULIE & JULIA

I LOVE JULIE & JULIA!!!! I came from a seminar this morning for Catering Business then I saw Julie & Julia at the MOA! I LOVE IT!!! Meryll Streep and Amy Adams are fascinating to see again on the big screen. ‘LOVE Meryl Streep and Amy Ad…ams gave such another acting revelation. It was very entertaining indeed. It reminds you of doing things what you love most doing no matter how difficult the task may seem. The secret is you have to enjoy it! Go ahead, INDULGE in this movie with your friends, husbands, wives, partners and your loved ones. Have dinner with them later or better yet, COOK dinner for them =) I myself will also be in another adventure, this time together with my mom and dad. I think I will pursue my COOKING CAREER soon! Le Cordon Bleu?! Why not!!!

Now I need to finish up reading “My Life in France” by Julia Child with Alex Prudhomme. I’m up for another challenge =)

Finally, In My Life

inmylife-bannerThe wait is finally over! I saw the much awaited movie of the year. In My Life stars Vilma Santos, John Lloyd Cruz and Luis Manzano.

I saw the movie on its first day of screening last night and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I enjoyed this movie a lot. It’s like watching my mom, who by the way is an avid fan, acting on the screen with JLC and Luis <lol>. Too many sweet moments and teary-eyed scenes.

I thought it was an experience worth sharing and telling everyone how moving the story was. I must admit, while watching this film, I missed the feelings brought about by past relationships, but it was such an inspiring movie that transcends hope and the natural excitement for change.

For me, nothing beats ZARA. What attracts me to ZARA is its classic and neat lines, imbued with contemporary designs and function. It remains true to form and style that fits my lifestyle <wink wink>.

Recipe of the Day: Shrimp Fra Diavolo

1 serving

12 oz shrimp, peeled and deveined

14 oz crushed tomatoes

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tsp red-pepper flakes

2 tbsp chopped flat-leaf parsley

4 oz dried spaghetti

1/2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

1 medium yellow onion, chopped

1/4 tsp dried oregano or thyme

salt and pepper to taste

Boil a large pot of salted water for the pasta. Heat a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add the red-pepper flakes, olive oil, onion, garlic, oregano or thyme, and cook until the onions are soft. Add the tomatoes. Drop the pasta into the boiling water and cook according to the package directions. Add the shrimp to the sauce and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes. Drain the pasta, toss with as much of the sauce as you like, and garnish with parsley.

Eat with a simple green salad tossed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Bon appetit!

Joshi’s Holistic Detox

41WX7DEBV3L__SS500_I chanced upon this book sometime in Aug 2009 and immediately, I grabbed it and took it home. Within a week I finished reading the book and helped me plan out my diet program. This is the kind of book that is very easy to read. It emphasizes the process of understanding why we need to undo the wrong eating habits and replace it with better eating lifestyle. I have read through it from Introduction to its delicious recipes. I got this copy from Fully Booked in Bonifacio High Street, Taguig City. You can also check several book reviews and alot of testimonials (in www.amazon.com) both from celebrities and non-celebrities alike who have tried and tested the “21 days to a healthier slimmer you – for life”. This book is written by Nish Joshi with Jane Slade in 2005. You may also browse his website at http://www.thejoshiclinic.com/index.php.

Happy reading!
